Set out below are a few more of my thoughts on this principle.
People in adaptive organisations:

Are empowered to make decisions at the point it matters most: customer interaction

Have autonomy: permission is neither sought nor given, it's not in the vocabulary

Have the freedom to experiment

Are encouraged to take sensible risks
-
Are passionate about what they do
-
Ooze enthusiasm, it's contagious
